White Base Experimentation.

I missed this lesson due to sickness so I have had to experiment with different materials for a white base in the out of hours studio. I have found the results all very interesting.

Health and Safety check:

  1. Check that all bags and belongings have been stored away properly.
  2. Make sure my client is sat comfortably and caped.
  3. Cover my work station with couch roll.
  4. Make sure all of my brushes have been washed and sterilised with Isopropyl ready for application.
  5. Complete a consultation form with my client and check for any Contra-indications.
  6. Wash hands with soap and water to prevent bacteria from being transferred to my clients face.
  7.  Decant products onto my Palette to prevent cross contamination.
Tools, equipment and products used:

  1. Wooden spatulas.
  2. Foundation brush x3
  3. Kabuki brush
  4. Cotton buds, pads and tissues.
  5. Cleanser, toner and moisturiser

Supracolor Palette:

This was probably my favourite to work with as I found it very easily blend-able and build-able. It gave an intense colour base and I felt it was the perfect base colour for this project. It does move and lift from the skin with the heat of your hands but is easily fixed. I will probably be using this for my final project.

Aquacolor Palette:

This was the hardest to work with for a base colour. It dried very quickly and was very streaky no matter what brush you used to apply it. I didn't like it for a base but I think it works really well for details and lines etc.

Illamasqua base colour:

I really enjoyed using this material as a base. I feel that it works best with a gradual application. This moves around very easily so I feel its best layered with translucent powder being applied in between every application. It blended well and gave a great natural fair complexion to the skin. You do have to be careful though as it can move around a lot.
